This ratio simply describes the proportional relationship between an image’s height and width. When you hear that an HQ video is “1080p” that means it has a resolution of 1,920 pixels width by 1,080 pixels of height.
You may see a TV or camera has a 16:9 picture ratio but this can also be described as 1.77:1 whereas the standard ratio for motion picture films is a wider 2.35:1.
