Standard aspect ratios

What is Aspect Ratio?

This ratio simply describes the proportional relationship between an image’s height and width. When you hear that an HQ video is “1080p” that means it has a resolution of 1,920 pixels width by 1,080 pixels of height.

You may see a TV or camera has a 16:9 picture ratio but this can also be described as 1.77:1 whereas the standard ratio for motion picture films is a wider 2.35:1.
